Volcanic Ash

Condition
Volcanic ash is suspected when one or more of these occur:
- Static discharge around the windshield
- Bright glow in the engine inlets
- Smoke or dust on the flight deck
- Acrid odor (λ§€μΊν λμ)
Checklist
- Exit the volcanic ash as quickly as possible. Consider a 180Β° turn. Consider a descending turn.
- Don oxygen masks and smoke goggles, if needed
- Establish crew communications, if needed
- Dual Eng Fail/Stall 체ν¬λ¦¬μ€νΈλ₯Ό μ§μ μ κΉμ§ μννμ§ λ§ κ²
- μ΄ μ²΄ν¬λ¦¬μ€νΈ μν μ€ μ μμ§ λͺ¨λ κ³ μ₯ μ:
- Both FUEL CONTROL switches β CUTOFF, then RUN
- RAT switch β Push and hold 1 second
- ENG FAIL 체ν¬λ¦¬μ€νΈλ μ§μ μ κΉμ§ μννμ§ λ§ κ²
- When in volcanic ash: Minimize thrust if practical (EGT κ°μ β μμ§ μμ κ²½κ°)
- ENGINE ANTI-ICE selectors (both) β ON
- WING ANTI-ICE selector β ON
- RECIRC FANS switches (both) β Off
- APU selector (if APU available) β START, then ON

- EQUIP COOLING OVRD λ©μμ§
- FIRE CARGO FWD or AFT λ©μμ§ (νμ 경보 κ°λ₯)
- λ€μ 체ν¬λ¦¬μ€νΈ μν κΈμ§: EQUIP COOLING OVRD, ANTI-ICE ON
- λΆκΈ°:
- Both engines failed β Dual Eng Fail/Stall (QRH 7.2)
- Single engine failed β ENG FAIL L, R (QRH 7.16)
- Both engines running β Step 14
- Plan to land at the nearest suitable airport.
